Today, a student in one of my classes had given lollipops to all the other kids. Towards the end of class, the students realized that one of the boys didn't have a lollipop, and carried out a full-fledged investigation to determine whether or not he really did have one and just wanted another, or if he hadn't received one at all. I told them "English, please," and they actually did conduct the investigation in what very little English they know. Smelling the boy's breath, counting lollipops, counting wrappers in the trashcan -- they were pretty thorough. The verdict was that he had not received one, so they gave him one. I wish I'd had my camera.

Liz,
That is so funny about the lollipops.
Sorry I missed your calls this weekend! What is the best time for me to call you over there across the sea?
I miss you tons. Can't wait to hear more of your teaching adventures.
Love Lily
I enjoy your blog- I was sent the link by Ian Davidson. I'm thinking about teaching overseas for a year, but I can't quite commit to it yet. Anyway, I like your blog because it reminds me of student teaching in South Africa, and the new and weird things :) good times! Anyway, good luck to you! Enjoy your time in South Korea!
